Why now?

The European Union has issued a directive on platform work. The Czech Republic must incorporate it into law by the end of 2026. This directive can fundamentally affect working conditions — for better or for worse. It will determine which rules will apply to the everyday work of couriers and drivers in practice.

It depends on who will be at the table during these negotiations. Today, platforms and institutions often sit there, but those who are missing are the people who are actually affected.

At the same time, this is not just about this one legislative change. Platform work has long been based on an imbalance — workers bear the risk, while platforms hold the control. This asymmetry needs to be addressed systematically, not only through a single law, but through long-term pressure, expert arguments, and the representation of people with practical experience.
